The latest addition to The Garden Rooms has been officially opened in a ribbon cutting ceremony performed by MP for Richmond Rishi Sunak. The opening of The Cloisters marks the final chapter in the development of The Garden Rooms, the areas largest purpose designed events, exhibitions and wedding venue.
In contrast to the larger event spaces at The Garden Rooms, The Cloisters has been designed to provide a private and intimate venue which takes its inspiration from the original architectural principles used to build cloisters for monastic orders. It is hoped it’s flagged courtyard and Mediterranean inspired setting will provide a location for private, community and corporate events. Chairman Rodney Tennant said: “When we were considering the purpose and function of The Cloisters, we were very keen to create a place of peace and tranquility. The Cloisters provides a real alternative to our other spaces which we hope will be appreciated by those seeking a relaxed, intimate and more informal venue”.
In addition to playing host to concerts, weddings and corporate events, The Garden Rooms is also a thriving hub of arts, culture and events. Its galleries and exhibitions bring together the adjoining Tennants Auctioneers to provide the opportunity to display fascinating objects for forthcoming sales which the public can view free of charge. When opening The Cloisters, Rishi Sunak said: “I am delighted to be opening the latest addition to The Garden Rooms. It is an amazing and inspiring place and an important community resource which I am sure is appreciated by local people and visitors alike.”
