Tea and Teapots from the Collection of David Battie

Tennants Auctioneers is delighted to be hosting a display of Ceramics from the personal collection of renowned antiques expert David Battie.

David will be bringing a select group of items from his extensive collection to display in the Garden Rooms at Tennants galleries and will be present to discuss the items with visitors.

David Battie joined Sotheby’s in 1965 and worked in the Ceramics and Oriental Art Departments before being made a Director in 1976. He is a regular face on the Antiques Roadshow and has been appearing on the show since the first episode was aired in 1977. A leading authority on ceramics, and in particular Chinese and Japanese ceramics, David has written numerous publications on the subject.

“These Are Afew of My Favourite Things” with David Battie

David will be giving a lecture on some of his favourite pieces from his personal collection in aid of Antibiotic Research UK, the charity for which he is a director. David became an advocate for this important charity after he was hospitalised for seven months after contracting an antibiotic resistant infection following a broken leg.
