Patchworking Workshop & Lunch – Experienced Quilter’s Session

Join us for a Patchworking workshop, where you will make a cushion cover inspired by a quilt in our Patchwork, Pattern & Print Exhibition

Project: Hand Appliqué Cushion

In this class you will learn the technique of hand applique work. Inspired by one of the quilts on display you will be given the design to work from, and the piece you make can then be made into a 16-inch cushion cover.

On the day you will be shown how to make your own applique pieces and sew them to the background fabric, so it is suitable for those who have never done this type of work before. You can work at your own pace – no pressure to keep up with everyone else. It will be a very enjoyable class for those new to this type of quilting.

All materials and equipment needed on the day will be provided. Please state beforehand whether you would like tradition or modern style fabrics.

Tutor: Kate Smith

Kate Smith is a prize winning quilter with City & Guilds qualifications. An experienced teacher, she taught at the Quilt Museum and Gallery in York and throughout the region. Kate is a longstanding member of the Quilters’ Guild, and having filled a number of roles locally and nationally she was twice elected as a Trustee.
