All Abroad! Concert by the Richmondshire Orchestra

Presentation1 (20)

Sunday 1st December, 3pm

Join Richmondshire Orchestra on a ‘European Grand Tour’ as we celebrate the musical legacies of the travels of Berlioz and Haydn.

The raw excitement of a ‘Roman Carnival’ and the symphonic representation of wandering through scenic Italy in ‘Harold in Italy’, for solo viola, harp and orchestra, inspired by Byron’s ‘Childe Harold’ provide a fantastic, vibrant feast of music reflecting Berlioz’s great love of Italy. In contrast, Joseph Haydn’s final symphony, No 104 ‘London’, commissioned whilst Haydn’s professional life brought him to England, provides some relatively light relief!

Berlioz, Harold in Italy, with soloist Suzie Fawden
