Art in the Cafe: Liz Harvey
2nd January - 28th February
This exhibition is a collection of work by Liz Harvey. Liz is a fine artist, specialising in oil paintings and mixed media drawings, influenced by her environment; the work in this show reflects her interest in her surroundings. Liz is inspired by experiences as she walks and travels through the landscape: pockets of blue sky on a winter’s day, the calmness of walking through woods, unexpected colours and light in autumn, bursts of colour in spring, these are her motivation to create works of art. In both her drawings and paintings, there is a strong focus on light, colour and structure. Liz gets an incredible sense of wellbeing
from being outside and experiencing nature. She hopes seeing the work will evoke in the viewer similar feelings of calm, joy and wellbeing.
Liz has recently moved to North Yorkshire following a long and happy teaching career in the UK and internationally. She now runs a teaching studio near Ripon, offering tutoring and workshops for adults alongside working on her own practice. As a tutor, Liz guides people to find their
own artistic voice and she has a wealth of experience to support artists of all abilities. Liz teaches regularly at Old Sleningford Hall and participates in North Yorkshire Open Studios as well as exhibiting her work regularly.
